I often recommend future expats to try a few places before making a choice. Meaning, rent a place in NC, stay a month or 2.. Then try the Capital, Santiago or other parts of the Country. Make it a fun experience, explore a little and only then should you make your decision.

Although I enjoy paying cheaper for items, I also believe in giving small local businesses a fair shot. If one uses loopholes, skims on taxes, pays low wages and uses other methods, this allows them to have very cheap prices thus killing the locals and their businesses. I can’t in good faith...

I’m literally always in Santiago, all over the place and I can say that it’s way way cleaner than the Capital… Im from NYC so shopping, malls and things of that nature are most definitely NOT what I’m looking in a Caribbean Country. I have Soho, Madison Ave and more choices than I can count on...

I don’t doubt that, it’s a growing city but we are comparing the 2 cities overall, not just the traffic. I do know that the traffic is insanely worst in Santo Domingo and that’s a fact!
