Hello all,

As we make plans to live there for 3-6 months out of the year, my wife is looking to have our care monitored my a FDN or Naturopath like we rarely use here in the US.

We're in our early 50s, healthy, just want to stay with our alternative care.

We will be living in Provincia Hnas. Mirabal at first, and can go to Santiago or the Capital as needed.

Thoughts and recommendations are welcomed.

they are not physicians; they cannot do surgery and they cannot prescribe some types of medicines. They do not attend recognized medical schools. When I am sick or injured, I want a medical physician. Not a political guy that tells me the reason I am sick is because I am driving a gas-powered vehicle and need to drink more lavender tea.
wow, dude, you're really showing your ignorance of the subject.

Your use of "dude" indicates to me that you are indeed the one who is ignorant. I clearly have more knowledge on the subject matter than you. Why is it that naturopathic's do not have hospital privileges. Because they are not recognized by the medical community. They cannot admit a patient.

You may be correct about some naturopathic doctors not being MD's (many are MD'S and many MD's do not perform surgery) but when I am consulting a professional about diet and nutrition, I want somebody that actually studied that science not an MD that got two weeks on it in their 4-5 years of medical school. What is ideal is to have a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine has your first line doctor. I have many doctors in my family.

Think about the real reasons they don't have admitting privileges. Either do many abortion doctors, and they are MDs.

They do not have admitting privileges because they are NOT physicians. They are not recognized by any legitimate medical professional. Sure, they can give advice. Exercise more and eat less.

Nice deflect. The doctors I know are licensed medical doctors and one is in a well-known clinic here.

The only way a naturopathic could possibly be an M.D is by going to a medical school. If I had a diet situation, I would want to see a medical profession that is recognized a physician and can order lipid panels and discern the numbers. Not some person that is not allowed into a medical facility.

False!! Unless they went to medical school, they are scam artists. A Naturopathic is not a physician, here or anywhere.

They are medical doctors who went to medical school and are licensed doctors who also practice Naturopathic treatments if the patient is so inclined.
Give it a rest already.

Give what a rest? Medical doctors only go to medical school. The only way you can place an MD behind your name.

Well, you prove that you are stubborn and unable to read. Many MD's have decided to become naturopathic doctors as well. A naturopathic doctor has much more education on how nutrition affects your body than a standard MD that only went to medical school. There are plenty of MDs I wouldn't trust to treat me or prescribe medicine either.

Abortion doctors certainly are MD's. My oldest brother just died from liver cancer at age 74. Having an Oncologist for a SIL, and Kidney Specialist for a BIL didn't help him survive his cancer. Perhaps if he had gone to a naturopathic doctor and got good nutritional advice 20 years ago, he wouldn't have got cancer in the first place.

I won't even mention my friend who was diagnosed with end stage 4 prostate cancer almost 15 yrs ago who went to Thailand to spend his last days.
He was taken to a naturopathic center and was put on treatment there.
He's in his late 70's now with his cancer in complete remission.
For you old time Boca Chica folks his name is Gary and he used to own the Casa Coco hotel.

Lol, You of course are joking. You can search the entire hemisphere and you will not be able to find a physician that decided to become a naturopathic. The process for attempting to working around medical school and obtaining a medical degree (as in a MD)is nothing new. Entrance into medical school is extremely competitive for good reason. No legitimate med school is going to sully thier reputation with a naturopathic course.

I am a firm believer in Thailand therapy. Pattaya City especially.
