After more than a year of waiting, reporters from the Listin Diario newspaper were able to obtain the statistics regarding how many Dominicans have been deported over the past eight years. The number is 18,063 Dominicans, mostly men. The deported were returned to the Dominican Republic from nearly 80 different countries.

With the Dominican Republic in the sight of different human rights groups for its deportations of undocumented Haitian immigrants, it is interesting to see the list of crimes, such as immigration violations, and other circumstances that has brought about the deportations of so many Dominicans.

The returned Dominicans have been accused or sentenced for drug trafficking, illegal immigration, robbery, sex crimes, domestic violence, homicide, fraud, illegal weapon possession, human trafficking, terrorism, kidnapping, and visa violations.

The very long list...

OK, Listín Diario, where are your editors?

The list of countries from where Dominicans were deported include the UK and Guadalupe, as well as London and Pointe-à-Pitre.

I'll stop ridiculing Dominican celerities who express their desires to visit France and Paris... and Europe.

“The deported were returned to the Dominican Republic from nearly 80 different countries.”
It would be boring to mention the 80 countries.

Well, Listín Diario did mention all the countries.

And the list included the UK, England, and London. Seriously, folks.

Also included Guadalupe and Pointe-à-Pitre.

I've heard celebrities say they want to visit Paris and France, too (they might as well visit Europe during the same trip).

Clearly they are aiming this at the international community for scolding the DR regarding deporting Haitians.

But, as you point out, the editors could have done a much better job.

Always amazed, but not surprised, when they list Puerto Rico as a country. Vienna, St Thomas and a whole host of other new countries just got formed by the article.

Proof positive that 4% for education has been unsuccessful.

I bet Monaco and Vatican City are not on that list.

Go around some time and ask businesses if they accept Puerto Rican money. Always good for a laugh anywhere.
From the article:

The five countries from which the most repatriations occurred were the United States with 12,730; followed by Puerto Rico with 1,205; Spain 704; Chile 503; Panama 317.
