The Ministry of Labor confirms Monday, 29 April 2024 is a national holiday celebrating Labor Day in 2024. Labor Day actually falls on Wednesday, 1 May 2024, but the Ministry of Labor has moved the holiday creating the long weekend for those who can take the time off. Domestic tourism is big in the Dominican Republic so the government authorities seek to boost the industry by moving holidays that fall midweek.
Travelers should take preventive measures to avoid extra traffic on the country’s main highways.
