The DR needs more large urban parks

This is also my main concern. Haven't there been multiple reports on assaults/robberies in this Mirador Sur park? I'm European, I'm used to having green areas within city boundaries and really appreciate those, just like children's playing areas, but outside of any private complexes in the DR...

Exchange booth at Las Americas International offers much less for US$ and Euros than in banks

I've withdrawn from Nacional for years, good to hear that their fees have not gone up... Indeed, they only charge 150 pesos for at least 30k pesos at a time (the max amount I have ever withdrawn) and the rate itself is good as well. Downside is that the bills they give are usually older, not so...

Exchange booth at Las Americas International offers much less for US$ and Euros than in banks

Please note that this thread is about exchanging cash from EUR/USD to DOP, not about withdrawals. I was not referring to any ATMs

Exchange booth at Las Americas International offers much less for US$ and Euros than in banks

Correct, aside from the fact that my wife hates airports, we've never spent anything else than occasional water/snacks for the kids on any airport... Bag of chips and two waters was like 10 USD at PUJ last time we went through... I still have the 1 USD bill in wallet, they only gave change in...

Exchange booth at Las Americas International offers much less for US$ and Euros than in banks

At least for EUR, Scotiabank offers very decent rates aside from Caribe Express and WU... Of course, the best rates would be from casa de cambio

    Getting a visa to Spain

True, but you may be required to show a plan of where you're planning to stay. That plan may of course change afterwards, but that's on you... When entering Schengen, the passport control may also ask for your hotel/other reservations if they want. Again, you may change that reservation...

    Getting a visa to Spain

Saw it on the news, price hike for Schengen visas starting June 11 2024, difference may be as much as double the price. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=OJ:L_202401415 EDIT: the prices are not the double, I misread, it's adults 90 EUR, children 45 EUR.

    Departure fee

Would it help putting a thread like this as a sticky and linking migration website?

    Electric Cable Issues

As pointed out in the first video, this is easier said than done. In many locations in EU even much larger cables are being buried at the moment, and that hideously expensive and to do this properly you need to plan plan and again plan. The cost of the cable is often passed to the customers, so...

Some Uber Driver tryed to rip off american Tourists at the Airport

This is very true. Many times I have had some service person approach and start asking or talking something in English... I just make a confused face and ask "que"? It has nice effect sometimes... Same as when someone quotes in USD and I look at them confused saying that I only have pesos...

Keeping perspective on Dominican Mother's Day

Nope, but I think it's more about the thought/person/principle than the amount.

Some Uber Driver tryed to rip off american Tourists at the Airport

I have no idea how Uber works (behind the scenes I mean), so if you use the app and cannot use it to pay as the fees are to low, does that not defeat the purpose? Why do you say this is not the driver's fault and how come the rates do not match the local market?

Some Uber Driver tryed to rip off american Tourists at the Airport

Thanks, I know the place, we've been many times and it looks a very nice area. Then it sounds absolutely correct, 150 is only within the main city limits.

Some Uber Driver tryed to rip off american Tourists at the Airport

Unless things have changed drastically, the normal fare in POP for a trip within the city should be around 150 pesos for a regular taxi. You don't mention from where you want to go to Jumbo...
