I agree with you on something, nice... For me, 1-2 cups in the morning (cannot think properly otherwise), once after lunch so that I don't fall asleep and possibly once more around 5 pm... On weekends much less...

Classrooms to close to give room to voting stations

I know, in EU too, perhaps I expressed this a bit wrong: I was referring if it was possible that indeed voting would take place on school premises but not where they teach (classrooms), to avoid interrupting school, so for example, any sporting facilities that might be on the school premises..

Classrooms to close to give room to voting stations

I'm referring to any sport facilities schools might also have, but if there's not enough, then I stand corrected.

Classrooms to close to give room to voting stations

Elsewhere they use exclusively sport venues (including those in schools) for this and rather do not bother the education system, I wonder why is this not an option in the DR? I think this is simply the strongest indication that politics come before education...

Moving back to DR (north coast) when I retire: do or don't

This is the best, you're right on the water source from the nature. I believe it has been in fact reported that even if not all water, some water from some water companies in the DR are in fact potable/drinkable when they left the filtering/preparation facilities, but the state of the plumbing...

Motorcyclists violating traffic laws are a national epidemic; yet, politicians are on their side

Absolutely correct. POP was recently criticized for traffic due to the motorcycles. I complain about those, my wife does as well. Truth is, as far as I can see though, that those motores are what drive or make a city a city like that function for a decent part.

    Getting a visa to Spain

Please refer to post #67, that should answer the question. What matters is what is your principal destination in terms of time spent there.

    Getting a visa to Spain

Understood, I was only referring to the particular embassy we've only ever dealt with, which was clearly mentioned in my post.

    Getting a visa to Spain

No, nor did I state anywhere that this would be the case. In fact, the embassy I referred to was mentioned in my post. I replied to the post of windeguy regarding Schengen visa (not in particular for Spain) for the case when there are no flights to the destination country.
