Yea, but once in a while there's no harm in it. As Lindsey puts it, I am old but not yet worn out. I think it's also an age/generation thing. To me Hard Rocks will always be iconic and a place to go. I'm sure that's not true to the younger generation.

So I just got back from San Isidro/Alma Rosa and Piantini. Everything was open. Maybe I should have known, but the toll at the airport was wide open. No fees. Also, Blue Mall was not a ghost town, but it was not crowded at all.

My dad bought a 66 regular beetle and then a 74 super beetle. He preferred the former. I love the color of this one.

I know there is a station adjacent to Caribe Tours Las Americas. There is also a station very close to Parque Enriquillo in the capital. Search on Google maps for Terminal asotrapusa on Calle Barahona. One of those 2 should be close for you.
