i go with lazier approach and drop chlorine tablet directly into the cistern, no floaties. same tablet/puck that is used in pools. never had an issue with water here and i use it to brush teeth and cook most of the food.

I hope your water is better than ours here in Jarabacoa.

I fill the pool up with the same water that goes into the cistern.

We don't have water right now because it's too dirty, so the city shut it down. But a few days ago I added 2" of water to the pool. I fiter the water through a 1 micron diesel fuel filter for much better water quality.

And here is the filter, turned inside-out, that was completely cleaned before adding the water:

I, for one, have no intention of drinking the water from the city no matter how much chlorine is added.

My next task is figuring out a way to add one of these filters to water coming into the cistern. 1 micron is pretty dang small...
