He probably knew how old she was...just figured it would never come to this. It is a shame though for him and what impact it has on his career.
I'm not so sure. These organisations are so keen to protect their reputations and keep their brand image pristine that any slight hint of misconduct is going to lead to a suspension, no matter how good the player is. The stakes are too high and the money too much not to do so.

Does anyone think the Rays intentions are to dump this guy unless they absolutely have to and pay him $182,000,000? Last time I checked the Baseball season was over and won't start until the end of March. Give it time...........And he is still getting paid as we speak...........

His money is guaranteed to the extent he fulfills the contract and there is no breach of its terms.
Given that all MLB contracts contain so called “morality” clauses, a breach would allow Tampa to void his contract.
Lots of contracts to athletes and celebrities have been voided due to those “morality” clauses……Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Tiger Woods, etc……the list is quite lengthy.

I believe the career of Wander Franco, if the allegations are true, is over............and so will be the Rays obligation to pay him. Time will tell. He certainly is not acting like someone who wants to clear his name.

The MLBPA which represents the players not the owners. By them agreeing with the suspension and length is an indication there is something credible in the accusations. Sure, the MLB wants to keep their image clean, but the Players Assocation (MLBPA) was in agreement. In previous incidents with other players, the MLBPA has stepped in and "negotiated" suspensions and lengths of suspensions. Maybe he will be back next year, but the fact remains there is something to these allegations, money grab or not. As a side note, IMO the MLB's image is not so "pristine". One just has to look back at previous incidents to know that there is something lacking in the way some players handle themselves. Starlin Castro was suspended under the Domestic Violence/Sexual Abuse/Child Abuse policy while playing with the Washington Nationals for something that allegedly happened in the DR. He has never returned to the MLB.

It is obvious that you have no clue what you are talking about.. NONE of the above players in MLB had their contract terminated at any time. NONE. And Alex Rodriquez is the Main Baseball announcer for the Major Leaues right now...................But keep posting anyway. I rest my case........

Sky, while these players went on to do other things, Rose, Bonds, Clemens, Rodriguez, Sosa....unfortunately will never have the honor of being in the HOF because of the accusations/incidents that damaged their reputations. Agree their contracts were not terminated but the MLB has definitely changed the way they deal with situations in recent times. The MLB is much quicker to suspend, punish, etc... than they were in the past. They take allegations much more seriously than in the past.

Nowhere did I say that any of them had their contract terminated......nowhere.
Luckily Alex Rodriguez was given an option through negotiation that either his contract was to be voided or he retire...........he chose retirement.
Pete Rose was given the option of a lifetime baseball ban in return for the MLB dropping its investigation into his alleged gambling. He chose the ban.
Given the way things are currently playing out for Wander Franco, at best, he will likely be suspended for at least this season.

There is a backdoor into the HOF through the so-called Veterans Committee. Perhaps, at some point. one or all will be afforded entry.
And you are correct, MLB of all the professional sports is not only much quicker to suspend......but also serve up harsher penalties.

Interesting the "backdoor" option... I have heard of the Veterans Committee...so this option would not be "voted" in by the usual method rather this committee could vote them in?
Based on talent and effort/success on the field "Charlie Hustle" Pete Rose should have been in the HOF years ago,
Baseball writers vote for the hof balloting for the first ten years.
After that, the Veterans committee has an opportunity. They are composed of retired players, a few writers and baseball historians. It is the proverbial backdoor for many who may have received not quite enough votes to be admitted prior.
And concurring with other posters, Pete Rose deserves the hof..............but accepted a lifetime ban................perhaps he will be forgiven after he passes and the lifetime ban is no longer valid. His biggest mistake was not so much his gambling, but placing bets on his own team and how, where those bets were placed. Had he not done that, he might not have gotten that lifetime ban............and would probably be in the hof via the Veterans Committee.
