Royal Caribbean is canceling stops at Labadee, a private beach in northern Haiti that has been used by the cruise line since the 1980s, because of the violence that has plagued the island nation. Most travelers will instead be routed through Grand Turk.

I don't know about political but I do think this is done from a risk assessment point of view.

Agree, not a political move at all. Cruise lines have cancelled port stops in other countries as well for risk/safety issues. This is not unusual at all much less a political move. Many of the travel blogs have been talking about when not if Labadee would be taken off as a cruise stop. I am surprised it wasn't done earlier.
